About
I’ve spent twenty years removing the work nobody wanted to do.
Help desk technician, six-time co-founder, and the person business leaders call when they are sick of double handling.
I left school with a low score and no plan. I liked building computers, so I went to TAFE Queensland and did a Diploma of IT in Networking. That was the first time learning made sense to me, and it is still how I work: hands on, fix the real thing, then explain it.
I started on the IT help desk. That job teaches you one thing fast: most of what slows a business down is not the technology, it is the same five tasks being done by hand, every day, by people who would rather be doing anything else. I have been automating those tasks since well before ChatGPT made AI a headline.
Along the way I co-founded six ventures, including Tribu, an AI service-desk product for IT providers that took us through Jason Calacanis’s LAUNCH accelerator and a $1.25 million seed round, and Crofti, the Brisbane consultancy I still run as CEO. Crofti has worked across every industry and more than a thousand platforms, and the lesson is the same everywhere: the busywork looks different on the surface, but it is the same few tasks underneath. Fix those and the whole business moves faster.
Now I spend my weeks between two rooms. In one, my team is building AI automation for clients: reporting that used to take 37 days and now takes 3, mailboxes that used to take seven people and now take none. In the other, I’m on a stage showing business leaders how to do the same, with the numbers to back it.
Outside work I run, and I build and back a group of ventures, from apps that get people moving together to a podcast about mastery. They’re all below. Most of my best thinking happens on a long run or at a poker table with other founders.

For hosts and journalists. Each is a point of view Lucas will defend on air.
- Most businesses are asking AI the wrong question. “What can we do with it?” has an unlimited answer. “Where are we bleeding hours?” has three.
- AI is not here to replace your people. It is here to take back the five tasks they hate.
- Stop buying AI tools. Map the process first; the tool picks itself.
